This workshop combines mindfulness techniques with watercolor to explore the self and create something joyful. This class can be taken multiple times since the emphasis is on your process rather than a perfect end product.

What to expect:

  1. We will begin with a check-in mindfulness exercise to check in with the messages we’ve been telling ourselves throughout the day
  2. Brief discussion on the psychophysiology of emotions and the body
  3. Project steps
    a. Cut paper to size
    b. Trace or draw body outline
    c. Pick one emotion to start with
    d. Choose color to represent emotion
    e. Paint body map
    f. Repeat with various emotions
    g. Reflection exercise and discussion
  4. Close with relaxation exercise

*Note: This class is not a substitute for therapy from a licensed psychologist. We will be going over mindfulness principles in an educational-type setting and in application to watercolor, but I encourage everyone to seek personal therapy for deeper exploration.

Level: Novice, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced

Supply list:

  • Watercolor paper
  • Watercolor paint
