    General Meeting and Demo

    "Abstract Paintings in Acrylic"

    Sunday, August 2

    2 pm - 3:30 pm

    Demo Artist: Linda Vanek

Join Linda Southern Vanek as she shares her journey into abstract painting. This journey began as a personal way to evaluate and strengthen design, composition & movement in her own artwork. However, in the process of painting abstracts, she discovered ways to enhance creativity and develop her own personal style. Exploring new painting techniques became a fun way to discover new ideas while letting creativity flow more easily! Linda will share different techniques in her paintings and demonstrate them with some unexpected tools that create texture, layering, hard and soft edges, and mark making.

Linda Southern Vanek obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interior Design from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana. While at Louisiana Tech, she studied under architect and artist, M Douglas Walton, who was a student himself under noted watercolorist, Edgar Whitney AWS. Linda has continued her studies under numerous well known artists including Gerry Finch, NWS and WAS-H Past President, whose teaching broadened Linda’s interest and skills in watercolor, acrylics, & painting on Yupo paper!

Linda Vanek is a watercolor and acrylic artist and teacher. She loves teaching and helping students explore and grow in their own personal painting journey. She has been President & Vice President at the Watercolor Art Society-Houston. Linda holds the Elite Signature status with WAS-H as well as the Master Signature status with LWS. Her paintings have been in numerous other International Exhibitions including NWS.
