VIRTUAL: Watercolor Foundations - Essential Techniques

The most important part about painting with watercolor is understanding the behavior of the pigment and surface.  In this online workshop, we will explore the watercolor fundamentals and techniques often forgotten or taken for granted.  This is an excellent course for beginners and experienced painters alike.
  • Week 1 – Considerations of Color Theory, Value & Design

    • Construct color wheel and value scale
  • Week 2 – Getting to know the brush and flow of pigment

    • Practicing flat wash and gradient while controlling the water bead
    • Still life block in
    • A study in building value
  • Week 3 – Varied technique and fluidity

    • Practicing layered and dynamic color mixing
    • Using alternative tools (masking fluid, sponge)
    • Landscape painting using wet into wet and dry brush techniques

Level: Novice, Beginner
