Learn the secrets of creating beautiful Luminous color and mixing rich darks and colorful grays. We will create texture and interest with watercolor pencils, and crayons. Whether you are an experienced artist, or beginning your watercolor journey, this fun, interactive class will include several demos, individual instruction and confidence in color mixing and painting techniques!

Class drawing will be provided. You may also bring a painting you are working on or a drawing of a subject you would like to paint!

Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced

Supply List:

Art Supplies for Class

One Sheet of 140 lb. Arches Cold Press Watercolor Paper, Bright White

A painting board or foam core board for use under watercolor paper

Artist tape, ½ “ wide

Paper towels, water containers, and Watercolor paints (see type of paints & colors)

Small & Medium round watercolor brushes(1) each

½” Flat brush and 1” flat watercolor brush (1) each

Regular kitchen sponge

Notebook for notes on color, etc.

Small set of Watercolor pencils

Crayons


PAINTS: Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolors (Introductory Watercolor, 6 tube set) or equivalent Professional paints. Student grade paints will not give you the Luminous color effects that professional paints will provide. The colors in the set you will need are:

Hansa Yellow Light, New Gamboge, Quin Rose, Pyrrol Scarlet, Phthalo Blue (GS green shade) and French Ultramarine. These are all in the Daniel Smith Paint Set from Texas Art Supply, Amazon, or other Art stores. If you already have a professional brand of watercolor paints, such as Holbein or Winsor & Newton, etc. you may use them.

Safety Alert: Individuals attending this activity should be aware that they require the ability to safely descend stairs in an emergency.
