$50,000 for the future – expanding member and community access to watercolor art! |
![]() WAS-H's mission is to further the cause and interest in watercolor art through teaching, programs, demonstrations, outreach and exhibitions. Core to our mission is spreading the joy of watercolor art with fellow art enthusiasts across the Greater Houston area and beyond. In support of our mission, in August 2024, we launched Lights, Camera, WAS-H!, an audio visual technology upgrade and fundraising project to bring about live stream watercolor content from WAS-H’s classroom/studio. This project requires a major upgrade to the existing audio-visual (A/V) capabilities at WAS-H. As part of this effort, as we raised funds, we have been making necessary and lasting upgrades and additions to our second-floor classroom/studio. Since launch to date, we have added new pan and zoom video cameras, a fully integrated control system, and improved classroom lighting. Funding to date—95% of our goal! —allowed us to launch WAS-H Live! in mid-December 2024, the first live streaming watercolor demonstration from our building. We reached over 75 members via the live stream. We recorded the live-stream demonstration and uploaded the recording the recording on You Tube afterward for additional viewing by those who missed the live stream. We also live streamed our first general meeting and demonstration in January 2025, with about 40 members and guests attending in person and over 80 others participating remotely via live stream. The recording of that meeting and demonstration has been uploaded to You Tube as well. We are continuing the equipment upgrade, and very soon will be installing new and improved monitors that will communicate effectively with the new AV equipment providing an enhanced experience. We also will begin training of volunteers on the effective use of the upgraded equipment and system. We are thrilled that Lights, Camera, WAS-H! is becoming a reality! Updates on more content from WAS-H to our community will be coming soon! |
