This class is designed with beginners in mind, but all are welcome to join. Participants will also earn five credits toward our Beginners Watercolor Academy program.
Understanding color from the beginning can help you in painting! In addition to luminous color, both beautiful grays and muted colors are used to create emotion, atmosphere, depth and focus in a painting. You will learn how to select and mix the colors you need that will work well together in your paintings. Class demonstrations of paint mixing and techniques with round and flat brushes. Class painting: teacher time with each student. Great class for beginners and those who want to refresh their color & painting skills.
Student Supply List: Paints: (Texas Art Supply or Amazon, etc.).
Daniel Smith Watercolor Paints: The Essentials Set: (6) colors listed:
Hansa Yellow Light, Quinacridone Rose, and Phthalo Blue (GS), and three warm primary colors: New Gamboge, Pyrrol Scarlet, and French Ultramarine.
If you have another paint manufacturer, such as Holbein, or Winsor Newton, that is fine. If possible, please do not purchase student grade paints.
Watercolor brushes: Round size, #12 and #6 are suggestions.
Flat brushes: ½” or 1” size suggested
Watercolor paper: Arches 140 lb. Cold Press paper size: 22” x 30” One sheet
