VIRTUAL: Dynamics of Gouache

Gouache has unique opaque qualities compared to watercolor, although their similarities allow for interchangeable use if you wish. Gouache is a forgiving medium, as what is put down on the surface of paper can be painted over, or worked into again for the desired result. So it’s an easy medium to learn from and have fun with.

This course will be divided into one technique practice day, and 3 project days. Each designed to further your understanding of dynamics such as water to pigment ratios for varied opaqueness, fluidity, color mixing technique on paper and palette, and more. This just might become one of your favorite mediums! This open and interactive course will spotlight my palette, work surface, and reference in real time, so you can directly see how I mix and apply paint. Questions are encouraged at any time. At the start of each day, special short demonstrations from any inquiries will be addressed, and then intermittently to describe the project process from start to finish.
