VIRTUAL: The Behavior of Color - Palette Mastery
Jason M. Bentley
July 1
1:00-4:00pm Central Time
$50 members/$60 non-members
Level: No Experience, Beginners and Intermediate Painters.
Consider this a crash course! You can write books on color theory for artists, and there are plenty… But this class is designed to teach you how to control the dial of color change and intensity. Understanding the color wheel and how each of our pigments are positioned tells a lot about mixing behaviors. Ever get that muddy color you didn’t expect? You’ll get to know how it happened, and how to avoid it.
Mixing the right color doesn’t have to be a mystery. With a bit of knowledge about certain pigments and their characteristics, we can develop an instinct for efficiently and accurately mixing color. In this workshop we’ll talk about the universality of primaries, and the warming, cooling, and neutralizing of hues. Most importantly, we’ll evaluate the role of tinting and shading while still maintaining richness of chroma… Or not… The point is we’re in control!

This open and interactive course will spotlight my palette, work surface, and reference in real time, so you can directly see how I mix and apply paint. Questions are encouraged at any time. At the start of each day, special short demonstrations from any inquiries will be addressed, and then intermittently to describe the project process from start to finish.
Jason is a contemporary realist painter with many years' experience in watercolor. Please visit HERE to see samples of his work.
