 Come play around with an under painting of painted patterns. Explore color and line, shape and value, texture and variety. Investigate transparent vs opaque. Manipulate watercolor techniques  - wet-on-wet, flat wash, and graded values. Embrace the freedom of playful mark making! And then we will overlay a subject of your own choice as we pull it all together with unity and pizzazz! This workshop will loosen you up and have your “artist voice” singing a new and colorful tune.

Student Supply list:

Graphite Pencils:     #2 Watercolor brushes – 1in. flat #8 round #10  or #12 round Watercolors of any brand (tubes) Your regular watercolor palette of colors Or if you are a beginner:             New Gamboge             French Ultramarine Blue             Cerulean Blue             Alizarin Crimson palette,  with large mixing area 140 Lb. Arches  ½ sheet for the finished painting 15x22 or 11x15 Light weight Drawing Board large enough to hold the ½ sheet paper (22x15) Masking tape or blue painter’s tape An image that you want to transfer onto the patterned under painting: portrait, animal , floral, still life, figure, etc. Sketchbook or note pad for notes
