In this class we will be learning how to unite breath, body movement and ink painting. Through meditation and yoga poses we can tune into the body and cultivate a sacred space for creative energy, intuition and inspiration to flow. We begin with a guided meditation to open and relax the mind, then progress into gentle body movement to help us understand our connection to nature and ourselves. These exercises are structured to be very therapeutic for all levels and ages. Through yoga exercise you relieve tension, let go of stress and open the body to be better prepared for painting. Through meditation and body work, you have the opportunity to dive deeper into the creative spectrum and gain direct access into the right brain —the storage house of art!
Next, we will learn traditional and innovative ink painting methods to create nature themes. In the February workshop we will be focusing on painting bamboo leaves and stalks. In the March workshop we will learn how to paint fish and lotus blossom compositions. Both workshops will cover ink grinding methods, brush movement and brushstroke technique as well as exploring the different effects of ink. We will also be discussing the symbolism and meaning behind each theme. Suitable for all levels of ink painters.
