VIRTUAL: Watercolor - City Slickin'!
Jason Michael Bentley Sunday afternoon October 22 1:00-4:00pm Central Time $50 members/$60 non-members Painting urban expanses can be exciting! But rigidity and building perspective can seem tight and intimidating, especially when confronted with a lot of information. The goal is to loosen up a bit and trade some detail for a sense of the organic, finding sharp edge and repetition only where they absolutely need to be. This gives illusion of building clusters without having to paint everything. In this workshop we will paint from two images. One that can be translated into a very loose, almost completely abstract mass of form to help train our eye to look past the detail. For the second image, we will apply our earlier rehearsal to a final painting, building in more elements to create a convincing cityscape. This open and interactive course will spotlight the instructor’s palette, work surface, and reference in real time, so you can directly see exactly how he mixes and applies paint. The process will be step by step based with short demos so you can take time to follow along and ask questions all the way to the finished painting.Links to a video recording of each session will be provided, should you miss a class or want to review a session. Links remain available for 120 days. Level: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
