There are many ways to apply paint to your paper using techniques and applications. We will be working on several techniques, for instance, dry brush. Almost every painting will normally have an area that requires a dry brush application. We will use several tools like a natural sponge, a variety of brushes, a ruling pen for applying straight lines, razor blades for scratching out areas like rocks, etc.  You can paint, dab, scratch, salt, lift pigment, stipple, and splatter, plus many others that we will practice.

MASKING - I frequently use Pebeo Drawing Gum Liquid Fresquet for masking areas. NOTE: DO NOT let the masking fluid dry on your brushes. You need to frequently clean your masking brushes with Bestine. It’s a Rubber Cement thinner and solvent. I will furnish this.

PAPER & PAINT: I recommend you not skimp on student grade paper and paints. The extra money you spend on your art supplies can make a big difference on how your painting comes out.

RESULTS: Don’t worry if your technique does not exactly match mine. Practice is the key; it’s how you learn.  I’m going to show you how to practice.

Level: Novice, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
