Atmosphere – from fog to smog, mist and rain, dusk to dawn. If you’re painting landscapes or cityscapes, weather and the effects of light can give a simple composition a stunning effect. We will learn how to use relative values, neutral colors, and levels of detail to create a painting that has more feeling, and more depth. We will work on a painting or two together to gain knowledge, and then use that on individual paintings.

Levels: Intermediate and Advanced

Supply list:  Just bring regular painting gear supplies and tubes of paint including gouache (only if you already have them), brushes and good quality cotton paper in quarter sheet size – 11 x 15” or something close. You are welcome to use the back of old paintings for the exercises. I will bring supplies that I will share. Please also bring photos that have a sense of atmosphere that you would like to capture, and we will work on those as time permits.
