We hear the phrase “negative Painting” understanding that it is the painted area AROUND our subject matter. But it is so much more than that! A skilled watercolorist will use this trick with any subject, even when it doesn’t seem obvious in the photo reference. It can add texture, nuance and sophistication to any painting, connecting subject and background - a very handy technique for every artist. We will do some paint along exercises and then work from your personal photos with individual instruction.

All levels.
