IN PERSON - From Sketchbook to Gallery
Ed Pettitt Four Friday afternoons, July 2, 9. 16, 23. 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. $120 members/$160 non-members
Whether you use your sketchbook for urban sketching, nature sketching, brainstorming, or doodling, this class will help you turn those sketches into gallery-quality paintings! This class is for all abilities - the objective is to advance you to YOUR highest potential, not anyone else's. If you're like me, you may look at your just-completed drawing or painting and have the nagging feeling it just isn’t right or that it's not as well-composed or balanced as it could be, but you're not sure what would make it better. This class will give you the tools to identify what's "off" in your sketches and how to make them better, as well as how to make strong drawings/paintings from the beginning. We will cover design dynamics, visual composition and balance, tonal value and contrast, color theory and mixing, as well as tips for still lifes, landscapes, and portraits. We will also go over the steps you need to take to submit your completed paintings to WASH and other gallery shows, as well as how to price and market your work. Level: all
