VIRTUAL - Luminous Red with Watercolor: How to Give it Depth and Variety
Ksenia Annis
Saturday, February 13
10:00 - 1:00 Central Time
Free for members of Art for Seniors (registration required)
To get into Valentine’s Day spirit we will talk about painting luminous reds with watercolor using strawberries as an example. It’s hard to underestimate the power of red in any painting, but it’s important to use the right red in the right place. Not all reds are made the same either, their temperature can vary widely as well as their transparency. In this class we will look at painting strawberries with clean, luminous red and learn about various red pigments, red mixtures and tricks to make your reds come to life. After the instructor’s explanation and demo we will have an online painting session followed by a friendly critique for those who would like to participate. Note: Please note that registration will close February 11 at noon Central Time. Please register early. Level: Beginner Contact Ksenia : ksenia@tummyrubb.com Materials: Watercolors: Windsor (Cadmium) Red, Lemon Yellow, New Gamboge (or Cadmium Yellow Medium), French Ultramarine (Ultramarine Blue), Phtalo Blue.
