VIRTUAL - Taking on Textures

Carla Gauthier

Saturday, August 8
9:30 - 12:30 Central Time

$50 member/$60 non-member

If you're like me you have dozens of brushes - each with its own job. Let's add to what our brushes can do! Learn techniques and ideas to create unique and realistic textures to make your paintings come to life. We will use everyday materials to transform paint into textures that make your focal point POP! You will need your regular painting  supplies, some scrap paper for the experimentation and there will be a list of common household items that you can gather to be able to paint along. We will do a patchwork kind of project - not a finished painting for this one, but we will do a number of practice runs with examples of finished paintings where I have used the technique.

Note: Please note that registration will close Friday August 7 at 9:00 pm Central Time. Please register early. Handouts and ZOOM links will be mailed to all participants after registration closes.

Level: All levels

Supplies you will need for the class….if you have it great, but don’t go to extremes if you don’t have it already!

  • ·       Your regular paints, paper(lots) and gear – you can use student grade paint and paper for all these techniques
  • ·       Natural sponge, tissue and paper towel, things to stamp with (see explanation in handout being emailed), a home made brush if you can find time and materials ( see photo in handout), old brushes, craft brushes, oil or acrylic brushes, colored inks, exacto knife, thin (flat) packaging plastic to make a stencil (like a take-out food lid, or package from a grocery store bakery), stryofoam plates – and anything you have discovered for texture and would like to share!!
