  • One monitor per class will receive discount in exchange for helping teacher with specific tasks. Registration code is given to those who have completed the training class.

TAKING THE FIRST STEPS TO PAINTING WITH WATERCOLORS - Robin Avery

Do you want to learn to paint with watercolors? This will be a beginners’ class of four half days. You will learn about paints and their properties, types of brushes and their uses and  the different kinds of paper. You will also be introduced to the various painting techniques . We wiil  touch on as many components as there is time such as value, composition and the language of design. We will start out slow and build each week to a clearer and more fun path to painting.

Supplies:

You may want to wait until after the first class to purchase the majority of the supplies.

Minimal supplies:
Three colors:   

  • Winsor Blue 
  • Winsor Red
  • New Gamboge

Dinner plate(unless you already own a palette)
140 lb. watercolor sheet or tablet. (9x12 is fine for the first round of exercises.)  
a # 8 or #10 round brush….We will talk about brushes in the first class.

Supplies if you already own them:

  • Aureolin  Yellow
  • New gamboge
  • Winsor Red or Cadmium Red
  • Rose Madder/Alizerin  crimson or Permanent Red
  • French Ultramarine Blue
  • Cobalt Blue
  • Winsor Green
  • Winsor Blue
  • Veridain Green
  • Burnt Sienna

2 inch sponge brush from the Hardware or Paint store
