PORTRAIT PAINTING - Prof. Mohammad Ali Bhatti

Portrait Drawing by Dr. Bhatti is recommended as a pre-requisite, but not required.

This class is about learning the basic technique of painting portraits in watercolor medium. The focus of the class will be on learning the form, tonality, values, layering technique, and composition. Portrait painting is fun, exciting, and challenging, too. The class will work as a group as well as on individual portrait study.

Art supply list

Graphite Pencils: HB, 2B (preferable)
Watercolor brushes: # 02 - # 06 squirrel hair (Mop)
Watercolor palette, brand of your choice
Watercolor paints, professional
140# Arches (a few ¼ size sheets)
Light weight drawing board
Eraser – masking tape – sharpener – etc

Note: Please bring good quality photos/prints of your choice for painting portraits.
