WANDERING INTO ABSTRACTION - Carla Gauthier
Thursday afternoons,February 1, 8, 15, 22. 1:00-4:00 pm. $150 Realism, Representational, Abstract - all ways of taking an idea to completion using paint. We often admire paintings and painters whose work is drastically different than our own - maybe we like loose painting, while ours is increasingly more detailed, or we swoon looking at color, but take our cues from the photos alone, playing it safe. Often we look to photos to fill in all the blanks because we don't know and use the Elements of Art and Principles of Design to our advantage. In this class we will work on these cornerstones of art making, and work through exercises to take our own images as a jumping off point into abstraction. Together, we will explore, problem solve, and define what we would like our work to be. carla.gauthier@yahoo.com, 281-384-2473 www.carlagauthier.com Just bring regular supplies like your palette, tubes of paint including gouache, brushes and good quality paper, pencil, eraser, sponges, and paper towels, and maybe masking fluid, masking tape.
