This class is designed to paint portraits in watercolor. Participants should have taken Drawing Portraits by Dr. Bhatti. The focus of the class will be learning the basics of portrait painting techniques, tonality, values, layering, creating an illusion of three-dimensional qualities through light and shade. There will be a demonstration by the instructor and followed by the class. During this painting class, critique session will continue ever day. This class will work on different projects in a group or individually from a model if needed or through a reference photo of your choice. Remember, good quality art supply brings excellent results.
Supplies: 4-5 high resolution color prints 6x6” of people of your choice showing faces to shoulders; watercolor paints (tube or pan) and palette, pointed brushes #4 and #6 minimum, pencil HB with eraser & sharpener, paper towels, 1” wide masking tape, quarter sheet quality watercolor paper 140 lb (Arches), thin drawing or plywood board about 15x20.”
Mohammad is internationally renowned for his portraits. He earned an MFA in painting from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. in fine arts from Ohio University. He is equally fluent in oil and watercolor mediums and is a WASH member, regularly contributing in monthly shows. Dr. Bhatti has been a full time art professor in Pakistan and a visiting professor in universities in Malaysia and Ohio University. He has organized portrait demonstrations, seminars and workshops all over the world.
