One Day Workshop

Students will create a 16”X 20” watercolor painting during this one-day
workshop and explore combining an expressive underpainting with a glaze
finish in the background. Live plants will be provided as inspiration and
reference for each artist.
Intermediate watercolor students will focus on the portrayal of botanical
objects in a loose and juicy approach to translucent watercolors.
Artist/Instructor Lisa L. Miller is a retired public Art Educator with 25+ years of
experience. Lisa has taught painters of all ages and has worked with watercolors
the most of her life. She uses a playful approach to this intuitive and
colorful media to convey the organic and fluid nature of plants.
Student supply list:
Watercolor brushes of your choice but please include a 2” wash brush and a
½ “ flat and either a #6 or #8 round brush.
1 or 2 pieces of Arches 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper
Artist choice - Size 16” X 20” for standard framing or Size 15” X 22.5”
(a half sheet) to save on paper.
Watercolor tube paints in three primary colors of red, blue and yellow.
(recommend Daniel Smith or Golden Q oR but other brands are fine)
Covered large watercolor palette
Roll of Paper Towels
Instructor will provide:
China markers, Sharpies and other drawing tools
Drawing Paper and Reference Images
Water Containers
Painting surfaces (bath boards)
Plants for inspiration and reference
