Take time to reflect on your artwork and analyze the feedback you receive from the instructor and peers.  This course will help you identify strengths and opportunities for improvement in your paintings.  You will use this information to refine your technique and style.  Continually challenging yourself to grow as an artist, this class aims to introduce students to the principles of still life composition and provide them with the necessary skills to analyze and critique their work effectively.

Through practical exercises, demos, and discussions, students will learn how to observe and depict objects in a still life setting, as well as develop a critical eye to evaluate and provide constructive feedback on artwork. Class begins with a group critique setting on what the student is currently working on. The class will then move to simple exercises using a still life set up in the classroom. We will focus on arranging and setting up still life compositions to create visually interesting and meaningful scenes, as well as, exploring the use of props, backgrounds, and the use of negative space. Students will be encouraged to experiment and try new things as they progress in their development as an artist.

Prerequisite: An introduction to watercolor course must be taken prior to registering. This course is intended for the independent painter who has a good grasp on all basic watercolor and painting techniques.
