The Watercolor Art Society - Houston promotes the love of water-media art through classes and exhibits, both occurring each month of the year. Paintings from all exhibits hang in our on-site gallery for the duration of each show. WAS-H began hosting exhibits online in May 2020.We have three tiers of exhibits.
1. Our top tier International Watercolor Exhibit (March) and Annual Members Exhibit (October) are both juried shows, where artists must present their work to a juror who determines if their work is worthy of entry. This occurs prior to the judging and awarding of prizes.
3. The third show is a non-juried Student Show (July) in which artists may submit work done under the supervision of an instructor. WAS-H holds this show to encourage beginning artists to fully experience the exhibit process, to show their progress in painting under the supervision of an instructor, and to compete for prizes with artists of similar experience and expertise. Once an artist wins a prize in this or our other shows, they are ineligible to continue entering our student shows.
